The first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released less than two months ago, sending the internet into a craze. Chris Pratt’s Mario voice was criticized by fans of the popular video game franchise, despite the fact that the sneak peek only featured two lines of dialogue from the actor.

The Super Mario Bros. return to the big screen

Now, Nintendo and Illumination have launched the second official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie ahead of its release in 2023, revealing more footage and dialogue from the highly-anticipated animated feature. You can check it out below.

Chris Pratt’s Mario casting was recently blasted by John Leguizamo, the original cinematic Luigi. Leguizamo played the iconic Nintendo character in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. movie, which also featured the late Bob Hoskins as Mario.

In addition to Chris Pratt, The Super Mario Bros. Movie also features Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike. The movie is being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a script by Matthew Fogel.

Nintendo and Universal are co-financing The Super Mario Bros. Movie, with the latter handling the distribution. Illumination, which is co-owned by Universal, has previously worked on Despicable MeMinionsThe Secret Life of Pets, and Sing.
