Chris Rock’s Spiral: From The Book of Saw unsurprisingly gets an R-rating ahead of its May release.

The next chapter in the Saw franchise has received a predictable rating ahead of Spiral: From The Book of Saw’s release date. While many fans were surprised to see notable comedian Chris Rock behind the story for the next film, but after the impressive first trailer for Spiral: From The Book Of Saw, horror fans were instantly intrigued by the new take on the infamous series which also stars Max Minghella, Samuel L. Jackson and Marisol Nichols.

Spiral: From The Book Of Saw has received an R-rating, which won’t surprise horror fans but it’s at least a confirmation that the Chris Rock film won’t be straying away from the series’ love of violence and gore. The first trailer teased the return of Jigsaw (or someone following in his footsteps at least) as Chris Rock’s detective investigates the horrifying new traps that plague the city. The R-rating was given mainly for the “bloody violence and torture” – which fans of the series will definitely be pleased to hear.

“Sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, pervasive language, some sexual references and brief drug use.”

Spiral: From The Book Of Saw will be released in theaters on May 15, 2020.
