Tenet director Christopher Nolan suggested John David Washington would be a great candidate to play the John Stewart Green Lantern.

Fans across the world are already loving John David Washington in Tenet, but director Christopher Nolan thinks the star could easily play the John Stewart Green Lantern in live-action. John David Washington joins other stars like Michael Jai White and Idris Elba as potential candidates for the role, and with Warner Bros. working on both a Green Lantern Corps movie and a Green Lantern series, the star would be an excellent choice for the hero. But in a recent interview for Tenet, Christopher Nolan briefly opened up about working with DC as well as picking Washington for John Stewart.

Tenet director Christopher Nolan and John David Washington were speaking to Geeks of Color about the new film when host Dorian Parks asked the star if he’d be interested in playing Green Lantern, showing off fan art of the actor as John Stewart. Washington deflected the question over to Nolan, with the director explaining that although his days of working with DC are over, he thinks the actor would be an “excellent” pick for John Stewart in the Green Lantern movie or series.

“I think my DC days are over but I think he would be an excellent choice and certainly gets my vote.”
