Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated and very-delayed Tenet is set to hit international cinemas in August before it’s released in The United States.

After months of deliberation and online discourse, it looks like Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will actually come out this year. Originally set to hit cinemas in mid-July, Tenet was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike other delayed films such as Mulan or Wonder Woman 1984, Nolan and Warner Bros. were aggressive in ensuring that Tenet would be the first film to welcome cinema goers back to its halls. After numerous delays, including an “indefinite” one just last week, Tenet will begin its debut in international cinemas on August 26. Following that, it will hit select cities in the United States starting Labor Day weekend on September 3.

Some of the overseas territories that Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will be debuting in will include Canada, Australia, France, Korea,  Germany, Italy, Japan, The United Kingdom, and Russia. At the moment, there’s no indication as to which cities in The United States will see Tenet opening on September 3. Interestingly enough, Tenet currently doesn’t have a release date for China, as well as for much of Latin America, where COVID-19 cases are just ramping up. Indian audiences are also waiting for a Tenet release date. The film features one of India’s most prominent actresses, Dimple Kapadia, making her Hollywood debut.

This staggered release date perfectly lines up with the announcement that the studio made last week, stating that the Christopher Nolan film won’t have a traditional global day-and-date release. Numerous territories still don’t have release dates and it’s perfectly likely that some countries will change their dates based on the rules and regulations put forth by their respective governments. It’s also not hard to imagine second-waves hitting certain territories as well. For now, however, this is great news for Warner Bros. and international audience members who have been clamoring for new releases!
