A new report suggests that an August release date for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet seems unlikely as the pandemic continues.

Although fans were excited to finally see Christopher Nolan’s Tenet in August, it seems unlikely the film will release next month according to a new report. The film was originally slated to hit theaters on July 17 before being pushed to July 31 and finally once again to August 12. The August date is the one featured in the most recent poster for Tenet, starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson. But according to Eric Handler of MKM Partners, the Christopher Nolan film could be pushed even further back.

Eric Handler’s recent prediction of the box office’s future suggests that it’d be surprising to see any theater reopen before September, which would mean Tenet would have nowhere to debut, bringing about yet another delay. Obviously, no studio wants to risk delivering a summer blockbuster while the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase, with Handler predicting the 2020 box office will decline nearly 70% from the $11.4 billion raked in during 2019. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Warner Bros. choose to delay Tenet once again.

Here’s the official synopsis for Tenet:

“John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet.” Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time. Not time travel. Inversion.”

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the film stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, and Himesh Patel. Christopher Nolan also serves as a producer alongside his wife Emma Thomas, with Thomas Hayslip on board as an executive producer.

Tenet will now be released on August 12, 2020. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding Tenet and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content.
