Fans finally know when Clayface is set to start filming! A recent report has confirmed when the DC Universe’s most odd-ball production will take shape.
News about the DC Universe has been ramping up in recent weeks as Superman nears its theatrical release. Many thought that the studio would hold off on greenlighting any projects until their flagship blockbuster proved itself as a success. However, it seems that the higher ups at the production house have been planning and reassessing their upcoming slate for the rest of 2025 heading into 2026. Most notably, Sgt. Rock and Clayface.
While Sgt. Rock looks like it’s going through some woes, Clayface seems better paced than any other DC Universe production so far. The project seems to be coming together much quicker than anyone could have reasonably expected, with it likely already being in the earliest stages of pre-production. The work done on it may be ramping up soon as, according to Heroic Hollywood founder Umberto Gonzalez, the movie is set to begin filming on October 1st, 2025.
Why Is Clayface Filming So Soon?
It may seem odd to film a production like Clayface just under a year from its release. While superhero blockbusters, especially those in the Marvel and DC Universe pantheon, often have long post-production times, this seems excessive for what has been described as a body-horror thriller. What this suggests is that, while filming may be relatively quick, there will likely be intensive VFX work done on the backend.
And while fans know when Clayface will film, there’s currently no word on where the production will take place. Warner Bros. has been angling for many of its projects set in the DC Universe to film in London, a place Marvel and many other projects have set up camp following their departure from Atlanta. However, given the film’s reported focus on Hollywood, it’s possible that Clayface finds itself at home on the West Coast.
Clayface is set to release September 11th, 2026. This project has not yet been confirmed by DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
