Will Clayface feature the return of the Joker? Set photos suggest the Clown Prince of Crime may soon make his debut in the DC Universe.
There’s a lot of reasons why Clayface being the third film to release in the DC Universe is interesting. Perhaps the biggest one of those is the fact that he’ll be the second Batman villain to get their own spin-off film in the last two years, with the other being the billion-dollar-baby turned box-office-bomb: Joker.
This has left many to wonder if the Harlequin of Hate could appear in Clayface. While the two film franchises obviously won’t be related (unless James Gunn makes some really weird continuity choices for the DC Universe), Joker is the biggest entity in Gotham City besides Batman. If one wanted to include an audience shaking cameo, it would be him.
Is Joker In The Clayface Movie?
Surprisingly, some signs do actually point to Joker potentially playing a role in Clayface. Set photos tease that the Clown Prince of Crime is already a known entity in the DC Universe, with posters calling for people to “Join the Joker” in a protest against GCPD, and a “Jokers Rule” graffiti tag teasing the existence of the Gang of Jokers- a gang inspired by the original Criminal Clown.
The Joker is once again teased on the set of ‘CLAYFACE’.

Of course, fans shouldn’t get too excited. The set of Superman featured teases for all sorts of characters, including Tim Drake’s Robin. It’s likely that these set photos just showcase Easter Eggs from set designers that are a fan of the source material. However, given everything needs to be passed by SOMEONE continuity wise, it’s likely safe to say that the Joker is at least currently active in the DC Universe.
Clayface is set to release September 11th, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
