‘Clayface’ Set Photos Reveal First Look At Tom Rhys Harries As The DC Universe’s Matt Hagen

Tom Rhys Harries Batman Villain Clayface DC Comics

The DC Universe officially has its Clayface! New set photos from the upcoming film give fans their first look at Tom Rhys Harries as the beloved Matt Hagen.

It almost feels odd to say that the third film in the DC Universe has officially entered production. Yet this past week, the team behind Clayface has taken to the streets of Glasgow to shoot some scenes for the upcoming horror film. While a LOT has come out about the project from set photos (all of which we’ll be covering soon), perhaps the most important part of the whole situation is fans getting their first look at Tom Rhys Harries at Matt Hagen.

The first batch of set photos to find their way onto the net showed a rather straight-forward look at how Matt Hagan looked like prior to his transformation into Clayface. It seems as though Tom Rhys Harries will be playing a much more contemporary take on the character, with his outfit being much more reminiscent of modern “quiet luxury” fashion than any of the stylized outfits seen in the DC Universe up until this point.

Which Clayface Is Tom Rhys Harries Playing?

While it has yet to be officially confirmed which version of Clayface Tom Rhys Harries will be playing, signs point to the film amalgamating the origins of Matt Hagan and Basil Karlo into a single character. This is due to Basil Karlo already existing in the DC Universe, and this origin film taking some major liberties with the character. An example of this could be seen in set photos showing an injured Harries, which doesn’t exactly line up with either origin.

What fans can tell from these set photos is that Clayface is likely to give Matt Hagan some part of Basil Karlo’s origin about his face being injured in an accident, be it a car accident or otherwise. It seems reports weren’t lying when it was said that Tom Rhys Harries would be adapting A Feat Of Clay from Batman The Animated Series rather beat for beat. Though with how it looks so far, fans aren’t complaining!

Clayface is set to release September 11th, 2026. This project has not yet been confirmed by DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
