Is The Batman going to sideline The Penguin? Colin Farrell speaks out on the extent of his role in the long-awaited sequel to the blockbuster hit.
With the script for The Batman sequel officially starting to be sent out to actors, fans have been scrounging for any details they can get about the production. Perhaps the biggest question on everyone’s minds is who is returning and who will be left on the cutting room floor, especially as characters like Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb and Cristina Ricci’s Sofia Gigante have had break-out roles in The Penguin.
Colin Farrell has previously suggested that The Penguin won’t have as big of a role in The Batman‘s sequel as many fans might hope. This certainly tracks, as Oz Cobb didn’t exactly have the biggest role in the original film either. Rather, it was the stunning makeup and even more stunning performance that landed the character his own series on Max.
Is The Penguin In The Batman Sequel?
Luckily, it seems as though Oz Cobb will be making a return to the mean streets of Gotham City, given Colin Farrell has received a script for The Batman‘s follow-up. While the actor didn’t reveal much about the story of the sequel, he did suggest that The Penguin may still have a smaller role than some fans may be hoping for.
“I haven’t got much to do on it, just a little bit,” Farrell explained in a statement to Deadline. “I read the script and it’s extraordinary.”
Given how much The Penguin show seemed to set up future storylines in The Batman crime saga, it’ll be interesting to see what role Oz Cobb will play in the sequel. Most likely, Colin Farrell will once more serve as the film’s mover and shaker, helping to provide key information to the leads and pushing them in the right direction of the mystery.
The Batman sequel is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, and make sure to stay tuned to our YouTube channel for more content.
