Colin Trevorrow discussed how he approached bringing back the original cast from Jurassic Park to Jurassic World 3 and where they fit in.
After a new world dynamic was established at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Colin Trevorrow is keen to explore what the characters from the original series make of dinosaurs roaming the planet once again. It was confirmed back in September that Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum would all be returning for Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World 3, but he’s now discussed what fans can expect from the next film.
The Jurassic World 3 director spoke to Empire Magazine about the cast returning to face off against dinosaurs in the sequel. Colin Trevorrow explained that Jurassic World 3 needed a genuine reason why they could come back, calling the project “Jurassic Park VI” with his co-writer Emily Carmichael. Colin Trevorrow’s Jurrasic World 3 will examine how the original characters have evolved and how they’ve adapted to the new dynamic. Take a look at what Colin Trevorrow had to say to Empire below.
“We’d have had to come up with a reason why Ellie, Malcolm and Grant all went to the theme park on the exact same day it broke down – again. The next film allows the legacy characters to be a part of the story in an organic way. Emily Carmichael and I call it ‘Jurassic Park VI’, because it is. You start asking the most basic questions: who are these people now? What do they make of the new world they’re living in, and how do they feel about being part of its history? Ultimately it will be in collaboration with the actors. They know and love these characters. We’ll do it together.”
