‘Creature Commandos’: James Gunn Confirms Episode Count & Voice-Acting Progress

A Weird War Wages!

Creature Commandos

Creature Commandos is set to introduce the world to the DC Universe when it releases early next year. The show’s writer and DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has confirmed how much of the show’s dialogue has been recorded, as well as the expected episode count in what he reveals is only season 1 of the show.

James Gunn left many fans scratching their heads when it was announced that one of the first DC Universe projects out of DC Studios was set to be Creature Commandos, an animated show featuring a ragtag group of monsters and outcasts. When speaking of the show on threads, Gunn confirmed that the show will consist of 7 episodes in season 1, suggesting the show might be up to get a second season, as well as the fact that all of the lines had been recorded prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike:

While there’s certainly no promise that Creature Commandos will get a second season, the head of DC Studios pointing out specifically that season 1 will have 7 episodes certainly means something. The show was also James Gunn’s personal brainchild, suggesting they’ll at least have some role in the DC Universe going forward.

Get Ready For A Weird War!

Creature Commandos is an upcoming animated series set to debut in 2024 for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s brand new DC Universe. The show is set to feature the return of Sean Gunn’s Weasel from The Suicide Squad as Amanda Waller seeks to build a militia of monsters and outcasts. All 7 episodes for the show’s first season were written by Gunn.

Joining Sean Gunn’s Weasel in Creature Commandos is Frank Grillo as Rick Flagg Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg, as well as Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, and David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein. Sean Gunn will also be taking on the role of G.I. Robot in the series and will be joined by fellow The Suicide Squad alum Steve Agee, who is set to return as John Economos.
