Could Dafne Keen be the MCU’s Wolverine? The actress gives her thoughts on a potential return as the iconic X-23 following Deadpool and Wolverine.
One of the actors that fans were most excited to see return in Deadpool and Wolverine was Dafne Keen. The actress stole the hearts of fans with her show-stopping role as X-23 in Logan. With the character now in the MCU, those same fans are wondering if Keen would be open to continuing her hero’s journey as the Wolverine’s successor. When asked, it seemed she was all for it, telling Empire Magazine “I would 100% do this for the rest of my life.”
That short response was enough to reignite hopes about her return across the fandom. Though given the ending of Deadpool and Wolverine seemed to sweet to last, it’s likely the actress has at least one more go-around in the MCU until her time as done as X-23, potentially parting ways with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine for one final time.
How Dafne Keen Solves The MCU’s Wolverine Problem
Ever since Hugh Jackman first hung up his claws, there’s been some debate about how Wolverine should be brought into the MCU. This debate has been ignited by the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, with some arguing that he should just continue his iconic role in a new universe. However, Dafne Keen’s love for X-23 may give the studio the best of both worlds without having to puppet Jackman around like Weekend At Bernie’s.
In the comics, X-23 has taken on the mantle of Wolverine after the character’s passing (though he was, obviously, resurrected). If they brought in Dafne Keen to be the MCU’s main Wolverine after the events of Deadpool and Wolverine and Avengers: Secret Wars, the studio would be able to have a new take on the character without worrying about whatever actor has to follow-up Hugh Jackman’s second retirement from the role.
