Damson Idris should be a familiar name for anyone keeping up with news around the MCU. The actor has been making major headlines in recent months as his name, time and time again, has been tied to the role of Black Panther. Many people believe that he could be taking up the iconic mantle from Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed back in 2020.
Damson Idris himself has played things rather coy when it came to speculation. He’s only been tripped up a few times, such as in an interview where he could only say ‘yes or no’ where he suggested he’s had talks to potentially play Black Panther. However, in general it seems he’s fine leaving fans in limbo about whether or not he’ll join the MCU.

The actor was asked once more if there was anything he could say about the rumors he would be playing Black Panther in the MCU. Damson Idris, as with most interviews when it comes to this topic, remarks that he doesn’t know anything about the rumors (although his playful smirk while answering certainly suggests otherwise).
“No, no. I don’t know anything about it,” Idris remarked to TIME100.

If Damson Idris truly is playing the new Black Panther in the MCU, it likely won’t be long until fans find out the truth. The next Black Panther film is in development right now, and it’s likely that the character will play at least some sort of role in the upcoming Avengers films. So it wouldn’t be shocking to see an official announcement to come sometime in 2026.
