Is Baron Zemo on his way back to the MCU? Daniel Bruhl played coy recently when asked about a potential cameo in Thunderbolts.
One of the biggest questions fans had when the initial roster of Thunderbolts was announced was where Daniel Bruhl was. Baron Zemo is a staple member of the comic’s team, and it was clear the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was setting the character up for something greater in the MCU’s future. Despite this, there hasn’t even been a hint that the character could make a cameo.
This has led some to speculate that the film isn’t actually a Thunderbolts project, but a Dark Avengers film in disguise. This would explain why Daniel Bruhl wouldn’t need to make a cameo as Baron Zemo, especially as Sentry is set to make his MCU debut in the project. Yet there are still some holding out hope for the iconic German villain to make an appearance in the movie.
Daniel Bruhl Dodges A Cameo Question
Daniel Bruhl recently made an appearance at the London Film Festival. This, of course, led to reporters asking the actor if there are any plans for him to make a cameo as Baron Zemo in Thunderbolts. Quick on the draw, Bruhl deflected the potential spoiler with a playful “Next question!” Leaving many to wonder if he’ll be making an appearance in the MCU sooner rather than later.
Anyone familiar with the MCU and the actors within it know that a deflection like this likely means that there are plans for the character in motion. So while it’s not likely that Baron Zemo will have a large role in Thunderbolts, Daniel Bruhl’s response does suggest that a cameo is likely in order. It’s possible that his role may even set up a sequel, though what that sequel might be is left up in the air.
