The Sun reports an intimacy coordinator has been hired for the sex scenes in Daniel Craig’s James Bond 25.

The James Bond films are as well known for their sensual sex scenes as they are for their high-tech gadgets and stylish vehicles, but Daniel Craig’s Bond 25 marks the first time an entry in the 007 franchise has employed an intimacy coordinator to ensure actors feel comfortable during the sex scenes. An insider told The Sun that the hiring of an intimacy coordinator is one of the steps producer Barbara Broccoli is taking to “bring Bond up to speed”:

“Producer Barbara Broccoli and her team are going all out to bring Bond up to speed. It’s all changed in the #MeToo era and they’re going to extra lengths to make sure all the stars are getting the support they need on set, including during some of the more risqué sex scenes.

An intimacy coordinator is now on set during those scenes and is working with Daniel Craig and new Bond girl Ana De Armas to run through the script and make sure they feel comfortable. It’s really progressive and is a step in the right direction – not just for Bond but the industry as a whole.”

Bond 25 is set to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond after having played the character since 2006’s Casino Royale, though production was reportedly suspended after the actor had to get x-rays following an on-set injury.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica.  His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga from a script written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the 25th James Bond stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Léa Seydoux, Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw and Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen and Rami Malek.

James Bond 25 is scheduled to be released in theaters on 8, April 2020.
