‘Black Panther’ Star Daniel Kaluuya On If He’d Play James Bond

His answer may surprise you.

Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya shares whether or not he’d be down to play the new James Bond.

Daniel Craig recently ended his tenure as James Bond in his swan song, No Time to Die. The film ends his five-movie arc definitively, and the role is now open for a new actor to take over. Some actors thrown out there by fans are Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Rege-Jean Page, and Henry Golding among others, so it appears that at the very least, audiences are down to see a handsome, charming actor with a smooth British accent to play the part. And with that in mind, some have considered Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya as a potential candidate.

Daniel Kaluuya, an Academy Award-winner for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah is currently promoting his upcoming film Nope, in which he reunites with Get Out director Jordan Peele. Kaluuya won’t be returning for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so some fans are curious to see if he’s down to join another franchise like James Bond – particularly as 007 himself.

In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Daniel Kaluuya discussed the prospect of joining the James Bond franchise, but had an answer that may disappoint some fans while also exciting them:

“I just don’t [know] if I’d want to watch my version of James Bond. That’s just me. That’s just me, I go, ‘I don’t wanna watch that.’ But I’d want to watch a villain. I’d do that. I think that would be fun.”

The Nope star can do no wrong.

Along with his Academy Award win, Daniel Kaluuya received an Oscar nomination for his performance in Get Out. He consistently seeks out roles that further expand his craft as an actor, and thanks to his role in Black Panther, mainstream audiences certainly recognize him thanks to the prominent visibility that an MCU role gives. Although he’s not into playing James Bond, the idea of him as a villain should excite audiences, especially if they saw him in his terrifying performance in Steve McQueen’s Widows.

Daniel Kaluuya will next be seen in Nope, which will hit theaters on July 22, 2022. Meanwhile, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
