Daredevil: Born Again is focusing on the tiniest details? Costume designer Emily Gunshor gives fans some new insight on the production of season 2.
Despite season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again being just around the corner, Marvel Studios has held back quite a bit when it comes to promoting it. While fans obviously know it’s coming out, there’s yet to be a major tease that fans can sink their teeth into for speculation. This has led the fandom to some pretty weird places.
Enter Emily Gunshor, who served as the costume designer for both seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and The Punisher’s special presentation. She recently appeared on Wrap Drinks to talk about her history working behind the camera. While there, she teased some interesting behind-the-scenes details for season 2, such as it taking nearly 5 months to build the titular hero’s suit.
“It takes about 18 weeks from the first scan of the actor to build a super suit. So before those 18 weeks you need renderings, and actor to be cast, and then the countdown starts there.”
The Expanded Roles Of Daredevil Season 2
While the role of a costume designer may leave some people dozing off at their keyboard, Emily Gunshor does provide some genuine points of speculation for season 2. During the interview, she teased that Margarita Levieva’s character, Heather Glenn, will actually have a larger role in the upcoming outing than the first season of Daredevil: Born Again.
“I’ll make a custom things knowing that if it doesn’t play now, it’ll play later. For Heather [Glenn], for example, a character. This season she had a lot of suiting and I couldn’t find more versions of that suiting in other colors.”
Given Heather Glenn was a character created (and largely shot) before the new creative team came on, many assumed that she’d be all-but-forgotten heading into season 2. However, it seems her role in Daredevil: Born Again isn’t just here to stay – it has expanded. And given so much of her costumes were suiting, it’ll be interesting to see what role she plays in taking down Wilson Fisk.
