Does Matthew Lillard have beef with Quentin Tarantino? The Daredevil: Born Again star speaks out on the director’s recently viral comments.

Quentin Tarantino has become the talk of the town once again. And, as is usual with the director, it’s not for the best reasons. During a recent appearance on The Bret Easton Ellis podcast, Tarantino took shots at Paul Dano, calling him the “worst actor” in all of SAG. This caused a firestorm on the internet, especially given Dano’s long and storied career.

However, many people miss that Paul Dano wasn’t the only actor that Quentin Tarantino called out in that podcast. The director named two other actors as being weak sauce. The first was Owen Wilson. The second, and the focus of this article, is Matthew Lillard, who is set to make his MCU debut next year in Daredevil: Born Again.

“I don’t care for [Paul Dano], I don’t care for Owen Wilson, I don’t care for Matthew Lillard.”

Matthew Lillard Gets Earnest About Quentin Tarantino

These comments from Quentin Tarantino just around the time that Matthew Lillard was preparing to make an appearance at Galaxycon in Columbus. Obviously, Lillard was asked about the director’s comments during his panel. However, it seems that, while the Daredevil: Born Again star is hurt, it isn’t exactly what’s important to him.

“Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn’t like me as an actor. Eh, whatever. Who gives a sh*t.”

“The point is, it hurts your feelings. It f**king sucks. And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. You wouldn’t say that to somebody who’s a top-line actor in Hollywood.”

“I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms, right? And so, you know, it’s humbling, and it hurts.”

It’s good that Matthew Lillard isn’t taking Quentin Tarantino’s comments too close to his heart. Along with Daredevil: Born Again, Lillard is starring in quite a few major projects, such as Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and the next Scream film. So while the director may not like him, it’s clear that the fans do.

Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming on Disney Plus, with season 2 set to release in March 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
