Did Spider-Man spoil Daredevil: Born Again? Two stars from the series give their thoughts on if the recent trailer spoiled the highly-anticipated season 2.
The lead-up to the full trailer drop for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was interesting, as fans were scouring every frame of the preview footage to see what they could ascertain about the film. This led to some interesting realizations, perhaps the most interesting of which was when Spider-Man got the key to the city. Except it wasn’t Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin handing it to him – who is the mayor heading into Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but his co-star Zabryna Guevara, who plays Fisk’s political advisor Sheila Rivera.
This blink-and-you ‘ll-miss-it cameo from Zabryna Guevara had quite a few fans up in arms. After all, this seems to spoil the idea that Vincent D’Onofrio’s time playing the mayor of New York may be coming to an end. This was made even worse, in some people’s eyes, as Guevara posted the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day herself, teasing her role following Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Vincent D’Onofrio Breaks Silence On Spider-Man Trailer
Vincent D’Onofrio, the vocal man that he is, recently weighed in on this discourse. After some fans took his initial reaction as confirmation that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will feature a massive shake-up to New York’s status quo, the star insisted that the Spider-Man trailer doesn’t confirm or debunk anything, and that he personally doesn’t have any information to give.
“Didn’t confirm anything . If [her replacing Fisk as Mayor is] true i love it,” D’Onofrio wrote on social media. “When replied ‘i love it’ was the first i time i had seen anything about it It remains to be the only i have heard such a thing. If it’s true i love it. I’m the last person to know anything about the future of our show or any other show for that matter. I only know about the job at hand. That is the absolute truth.”
It’s also important to note that the mayor is not compelled by law to give someone the key to the city. It’s possible that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 ends with Kingpin injured, disposed of, or otherwise disgraced while still in office. In that case, it would make sense why the job of giving a key to Spider-Man would be delegated to a lower authority, leading to Zabryna Guevara appearing in the stead of Vincent D’Onofrio.
Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
