Daredevil: Born Again is making some big changes! Showrunner Dario Scardapane teases how a time jump in season 2 effects key characters like Jessica Jones.
One of the biggest questions looming over season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is when it will actually take place. The first season ended with Wilson Fisk essentially taking control of New York through his anti-metahuman task force. Every month that goes by between the end of that season and the start of this next one means wild transformations for the city.
Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane gave fans some of the answers they were looking for in a recent interview with SFX Magazine. He revealed that season 2 of the series is taking place about six months after the ending of season 1. And through that, some massive changes have hit the city. Some good, and some very bad.
“The Fisk administration at this point has really taken hold. At the same time, there’s a bubbling up of an underground. New York is being transformed.”
How Daredevil Changes Jessica Jones
Yet it seems as though the city isn’t the only thing being affected by the time jump between season 1 and season 2. Dario Scardapane continued by saying that time is a key factor in how they wanted to approach Daredevil: Born Again. As such, characters like Jessica Jones may be different than how fans last saw them.
“One of the things we’ve leaned into is that time has passed between the end of the Netflix show and the beginning of ours. We’re acknowledging that. These characters have matured; they’ve gone through life. And Jessica Jones, bourbon-swilling smartass – what’s it like for her to mature seven years?”
“What Melissa Rosenberg did with Season 1 of Jessica Jones is some of the finest superhero television work ever. When I first came talked to Marvel I was like, ‘We’ve got to bring Jessica Jones back!’ I don’t feel that her story ended. If you read the comic books, you’ll know that there’s a next chapter of her life that I thought was super interesting.”
Anyone who has read the comics knows that the showrunner is likely referring to Jessica Jones’ time as a mother to Danielle Cage, the daughter of her and Luke Cage. It’d certainly be interesting to see a different side of her character heading into Daredevil: Born Again season 2, especially as the last time fans saw Luke Cage was as a burgeoning mob boss in Harlem.
Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming on Disney Plus, with season 2 set to release in March 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
