Is Daredevil: Born Again going back to basics? One of the reboot’s new actresses has seemingly left the project following a creative overhaul.
For a while, it seemed as though Daredevil: Born Again was adding everything fans were missing from the Netflix shows to the reboot. However, it seems the team was also making cuts behind the scenes. Nikki M. James recently deleted her Instagram post celebrating being cast in the series, suggesting that her role has ultimately been cut.
While it was never revealed who Nikki M. James would be playing in Daredevil: Born Again, it was confirmed that she would be a key player in the reboot. Rumors suggested that she would be playing Kirsten McDuffie, an assistant district attorney and love interest for Matt Murdock in Fred van Lente’s 2011 run for the character.
Daredevil: Born Again Cuts More Key Actresses
Nikki M. James isn’t alone in seemingly being canned from Daredevil: Born Again. Sandrine Holt also deleted her Instagram post announcing that she had been cast as Vanessa Fisk in the series. This came around the time that it was revealed Ayelet Zurer would be reprising her role as Vanessa Fisk through set photos.
These casting cuts suggest Daredevil: Born Again is leaning heavily into connecting to the Netflix series. This makes sense giving the shows were recently made canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it’s also slightly disappointing that some fantastic new additions to the series had to be discarded to make that dream a reality. Hopefully, Nikki M. James and Sandrine Holt can find themselves back in new roles for season 2!
