Is Daredevil cut off!?

Is Daredevil: Born Again on its own? Showrunner Dario Scardapane suggests that the series won’t be feature any major crossovers from other MCU heroes.

One of the biggest things fans have been hoping for since Daredevil: Born Again became canon to the MCU is crossovers. There have been endless editorials about fans wanting to see Spider-Man appear in the series, or have Daredevil himself appear in bigger projects like Avengers: Doomsday or even an upcoming Deadpool film.

However, it seems as though crossovers of this nature may not be so simple. Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane was recently asked about seeing other MCU heroes appear in the series during an interview with SFXMagazine. While Scardapane admitted that he was open to the idea, the show exists in its own pocket of the franchise with a different cast of characters.

“I’d be into it, because I dig the comics! But no. That’s been kind of a fun and challenging thing. We know there’s that huge world out there of the MCU. This corner of it has crossovers. We’ve seen Daredevil in other shows. There are other characters that are going to be popping up in movies and stuff, and that all goes into the larger MCU of it all.”

“The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’ We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York. I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world, but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular.”

Daredevil’s Role In The MCU

This quote is certainly interesting, given there has been precedent for heroes in Daredevil: Born Again to appear in projects connecting to the wider MCU. Even if one calls Matt’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home a fluke, Kingpin fought Avengers mainstay Hawkeye in his own series, and the Punisher is set to make his big screen debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

It seems as though the core truth of this quote is that characters associated with Daredevil: Born Again can appear in other MCU projects, but the series itself won’t feature many – if any – crossover from major heroes like Hawkeye or Spider-Man. It’s a dynamic that makes sense, especially given the likely stripped-back budget of the show compared to other prestige TV projects put out by the franchise in recent years.

Daredevil: Born Again is now streaming on Disney Plus, with season 2 set to release in March 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
