Daredevil Season 3 showrunner Erik Oleson discussed Iron Fist‘s cancellation and Marvel’s future on Netflix in a recent interview.

In the last two weeks, Netflix has canceled Iron Fist and Luke Cage with Daredevil Season 3 dropping on the streaming service last weekend. The future of Marvel’s Netflix series appear to be in doubt with Disney’s upcoming streaming service and shows reportedly coming from Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. Oleson talked about how hard it was to see Iron Fist canceled with The Playlist:

“I’m close, personal friends with Raven Metzner and a number of folks who worked on that show, and I’m sad for my friends. The Marvel shows are a family. As the showrunner of ‘Daredevil,’ I’m always rooting for my fellow showrunners and their families, and it was a hard blow. I’m not going to lie. I took Raven out for drinks on Saturday night and we commiserated. It was heartbreaking news.”

Oleson was later asked about the future of Netflix’s MCU corner and admitted he knows nothing:

“I don’t know what the future holds in terms of Netflix and Marvel and the new Disney streaming service and all of that. I’m not really privy to any of that stuff. That’s way above my pay grade. But who knows what the future holds? I wouldn’t put it past anyone that [“Iron Fist”] comes back in some other form.”

Daredevil Season 3 is the latest to come from Netflix’s Marvel catalog, here is the synopsis:

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.

Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.

Daredevil Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
