Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio has revealed that he would like a Joker style solo film for his character, The Kingpin.
Last year saw the release of Joaquin Phoenix’s solo Joker film. While the movie was divisive among critics it managed to earn well over $1B on a $55M budget, making it the most profitable DC Comics film ever released. This has caused many to speculate what other characters could get the same treatment and Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofiro thinks that the Kingpin would be a good candidate for such a film.
While speaking to Comicbook.com, the Daredevil star was asked about his thoughts on a Joker style solo Kingpin film, and he seemed all for it:
“Yeah, I mean, I think that’d be awesome.”
When asked if such a film could ever happen, Vincent D’Onofrio didn’t dismiss the idea but couldn’t confirm it would happen either:
“I think there’s more to do with him, but you just never know it’s [Marvel] such an intense company. Because when I think of Marvel, I think of so many storylines, it’s like you think of DC, it’s the same thing. There are so many stories. I can’t imagine being in that chair trying to figure out which ones are the ones to be told next. And that’s how I look at it, as a creative person. I see it much bigger than just my part. I just see it as these huge opportunities.”
