Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg would like to have Iron Man appear in an X-Men film down the line.

Director Simon Kinberg has a positive outlook at the merge of superheroes now that the Disney-Fox deal has come to its conclusion. With the addition of characters from both sides, one can only wonder where Marvel’s popular superheroes could appear next. With this in mind, it seems that Simon Kinberg already has an idea of who he’d like to have in a future X-Men film.

While speaking with a reporter from Variety, Simon Kinberg was asked:

“Who’s the one superhero you want to see pop up in an X-Men movie that you’re dying to have?”

The Dark Phoenix director responded by saying:

“I guess I would say probably.. either someone from Wakanda or Iron Man. I mean I love Downey, [Robert Downey Jr.] I’ve worked with him, I love what he does with that character. I feel like he created the tonal template for the MCU with the first Iron Man movie. So the notion of Iron Man popping up in X-Men or Iron Man interacting with Deadpool is pretty exciting”

Iron Man kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his debut film by the same name and has since become a huge character throughout the MCU. Not only did Iron Man help bring the Avengers together, but he has also provided some of the technology other Avengers have used. Even though there seems to be no chance of characters from Dark Phoenix appearing in the MCU it would be interesting to see Iron Man interact with the X-Men in the future or any of the X-Men characters that are now part of Disney.

Below is the official synopsis for Dark Phoenix:

“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”

Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Dark Phoenix is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2019.
