‘Dark Phoenix’ Motion Poster Shows Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey On The Rise

Dark Phoenix Sophie Turner X-Men Jean Grey Captain America Civil War Captain Marvel

The official Twitter account for the X-Men franchise has released a brand new motion poster for Dark Phoenix. The poster depicts the titular character Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) rising as she begins to become the Dark Phoenix as made famous from the iconic saga from the comic books.

The poster also gives a sly nod to the series finale of Game of Thrones, which Sophie Turner is also part of. Now that her watch has ended on that series, we now get to see Sophie Turner rise as Jean Grey next month when the film finally hits theaters. You can check out the new Dark Phoenix motion poster down below.

This will be Sophie Turner’s second time playing Jean Grey on the big screen. She previously played the character in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

Here is the synopsis:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, the film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Dark Phoenix will be released in theaters on June 7, 2019.
