Dave Filoni Shares Update On Ahsoka’s Fate After ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

Star Wars guru Dave Filoni has shared an update on fan favourite character Ahsoka’s fate after she made a brief vocal appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Introduced in the Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan, Ahsoka has enjoyed immense popularity in the Star Wars fandom over the course of the past few years thanks to her various appearances in Star Wars: Rebels. Created by George Lucas and Dave Filoni, Ahsoka made her live-action debut in the climax of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when she – alongside other Jedi – helped Rey defeat the Emperor.

Of all the Jedi who spoke to Rey in the finale of The Rise of Skywalker, Ashsoka was the only Jedi who wasn’t confirmed to be dead. However, when included in the same batch as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, fans were devastated to find out that Ahsoka was most likely dead, passing away sometime after Star Wars: Rebels, which was co-created by Dave Filoni.

Fans should keep their tributes aside for now as Dave Filoni took to Twitter on Christmas afternoon to let fans know that Ahsoka might just be okay for now. Tweeting an image of Gandalf from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers standing alongside Ahsoka, with the wizard stating “People thought I was dead, too. Look how that turned out too…”, Dave Filoni seems to have confirmed that Ahsoka’s appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t solidify her passing.

If you don’t know, Gandalf the Grey passed away as in The Fellowship of the Ring but ascended to the role of Gandalf the White in The Two Towers. Obviously, Dave Filoni hasn’t necessarily confirmed that Ahsoka is in the clutches of death, but he also hasn’t denied it either. It’s not hard to imagine Ahsoka returning in another Star Wars show or movie, especially considering the response that her brief appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker elicited from fans. One thing’s for sure, repeat viewings of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker henceforth won’t be as bittersweet for Ahsoka fans.
