Suicide Squad director David Ayer has addressed the possibility of a new cut of his film following the recent Justice League news.
Like Justice League, Suicide Squad was a film that had a lot of behind the scenes issues. Many changes were made to the film during its post-production phase and the end result was a film that was panned by critics and met with a mixed reception from fans. Yesterday, however, Zack Snyder announced that a new version of Justice League would be available on HBO Max. Later that day, director David Ayer sent out a cryptic Tweet that some fans interpreted as him teasing a new cut of Suicide Squad.
Earlier today, David Ayer fully addressed the possibility of an alternative cut of Suicide Squad being released. While he didn’t confirm or deny that it might happen, he did say it was not his call and that his cut of the film may always be a rumor but he had made his peace with it:
It is simply not my call or my IP. I love WB – it’s always been my ‘home studio’ I fully respect and support the incredible path the DCU is taking under their stewardship. My cut of Suicide Squad may always be just a rumor. And that’s just fine. https://t.co/Prlp8bPgy4
