Would Batman and Superman be besties? David Corenswet speaks on the potential relationship between the DC Universe’s two most iconic heroes.
It seems almost odd that Batman and Superman have only met twice on the silver screen, and both of those came from a failed DC Universe nearly a decade ago. In a world where blockbusters are dominated by spandex, a reunion of the two iconic characters is long, long overdue. And with David Corenswet cast as the new Superman, fans see the countdown as being near its end.
Though with Superman being David Corenswet’s first outing as the Man of Steel, it’s hard to predict how a meeting between the two heroes would go. It’s clear that Superman has different opinions of characters from across the DC Universe. He seems to enjoy the company of Mister Terrific, who’s a genius similar to Batman. However, he seemingly hates the arrogance of Guy Gardner, and nothing defines Batman more than a strong head.
How Would Superman React To Batman?
With the promotional tour for Superman now in full swing, journalists are finally able to ask David Corenswet the burning questions they’ve had for him ever since being cast as the DC Universe’s Man of Steel. This includes how the actor thinks he’d react to a man in a spandex batsuit! According to the actor, it seems that Superman would be excited.
“Definitely excited,” Corenswet explained in an interview with Extra. “I mean, I think Superman, as soon as he- I don’t know whether he knows of Batman’s existence at this point. That’s a good point, we haven’t talked about that. But as soon as he finds out that there’s a man who dresses as a bat who’s protecting his city, he’s like ‘I wanna go check that guy out!”
It certainly seems as though David Corenswet understands the golden retriever energy that Superman brings to the DC Universe. It would be incredibly fun to see Batman’s first encounter with Superman being the Blue Boyscout flying over to Gotham to grab a coffee and find out what his deal is. And, knowing James Gunn, that idea may not be entirely fanfiction.
