Is Morbius joining the Avengers? David Dastmalchian reveals reveals what types of roles he’d like to take on in the future of the MCU.
David Dastmalchian is far from a new name for those following comic book movies. While he perhaps became best known to audiences for his role as Gale in the MCU’s Ant-Man franchise, he’s no stranger to the cape and cowl. The actor has portrayed everyone from Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad to Abra Kadabra in The Flash. He even wrote his own Creature Commandos comic!
Suffice to say, fans have been wondering what role may be next for him in the world of comic books. And with the MCU already double dipping with actors such as Gemma Chan in both Captain Marvel and Eternals (not to mention his dual Ant-Man role as both Kurt and Veb), it seems David Dastmalchian has his eyes set on a new Marvel character: Michael Morbius.
“I’ve always wanted to take a crack at Morbius, the living vampire. I would love the opportunity to play Dr. Michael Morbius. Oh, my God. There’s so many great characters in in in the MCU, and I’ve always been a fan of the horror and the weirder characters.”
David Dastmalchian Wants To Join The Avengers
Given David Dastmalchian’s tendency to play characters that are creepy, cooky, and all together ooky- it makes sense he would want to take a swing at Morbius. However, it seems the actor also has hopes to climb out of his obscure corner of the MCU. Dastmalchian reveals that he does want to join the Avengers in some way, even if it may not be the most conventional route.
“I tell you what, I think that it makes no sense that the Fantastic Four are going to be traipsing around all the different universes within the galaxies and all these different realities and all these different beings and creatures from other places.”
“They need a Veb to help interpret all the language barriers. So, I’m putting out the call right now. Marvel, if you’re listening, I think Veb needs to come and be part of the ‘Fantastic Five.’ And Kurt could fix all the computers at Avengers HQ. So, that needs to happen.”
It certainly would be interesting to see David Dastmalchian playing dual roles in the MCU. The actor has both the comedic and horror chops to play someone like Veb in the Avengers at the same time as Morbius. Though, given the stink both of those character have from prior projects, it’s not likely either will return to the silver screen anytime soon.
