The Red Guardian is BACK!

Is Avengers: Doomsday going through reshoots? David Harbour teases that he may soon return to set for the absolutely massive crossover film.

Most coverage of Avengers: Doomsday has focused on characters people were shocked to see return: The X-Men, Steve Rogers, Loki. However, it’s important to remember that crossovers like this are only so massive because the cast is filled with MCU mainstays. One of those is David Harbour, who is set to reprise his role as Red Guardian in the upcoming film.

David Harbour recently spoke about his return as Red Guardian during an interview with ExtraTV. While the actor couldn’t say much, he did tease that the project is shaping up into something “massive”. Harbour also revealed a reunion between him and his Thunderbolts* co-stars Wyatt Russell and Sebastian Stan, suggesting that some fun scenes were in store.

“I’m really excited about it. The chemistry with Sebastian [Stan] and Wyatt [Russell] on set was fantastic, so I’m looking forward to getting back in there. You know I can’t say anything. But it’s gonna be fun. The Russos are killing it, and the whole thing is shaping up to be massive.”

Avengers: Doomsday Is Getting Reshoots

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed David Harbour said that he’s excited to get back onto the set. That’s because the actor confirms that Avengers: Doomsday will be going through some reshoots soon. And while it obviously hasn’t been stated what those reshoots are, the fact that he’ll be making a return as Red Guardian suggests that it may affect the main storyline with the New Avengers.

“I’ve been working a lot. Keeping busy. And this little Avengers movie that we got in London. They got a couple more days they want to do. I’m heading there soon [and] actually going to London for a couple of days. There’s a little more filming coming up for Avengers: Doomsday.”

Before people decry that the sky is falling, it’s actually fairly standard for actors like David Harbour to return for reshoots on a project like Avengers: Doomsday around this time. This is considering that principal photography was likely stretched longer than most films due to the competing schedules of actors, so it’s likely Red Guardian’s scenes were only cut together relatively recently.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
