David Ramsey Speaks On ‘Justice U’ Cancellation & John Diggle’s Story

The end of an era!

David Ramsey Arrowverse Justice U John Diggle

Arrowverse actor David Ramsey speaks on Justice U not moving forward at The CW and the potential end of John Diggle’s story.

It was recently announced that The CW would not be continuing the development of Justice U, an Arrowverse spin-off show helmed by Arrow alumn David Ramsey, who played John Diggle. While Ramsey regrets that The CW didn’t pick up the show, he assures fans that there’s still stories left to tell as John Diggle:

“Yeah, unfortunately, you’re right. CW decided to pass on all their shows in development,” Ramsey spoke to The Cosmic Circus. “Justice U was one of them. Would it have been great? Of course, I think Diggle has a lot of story left, Lantern ring or not. But again, there is Superman and Lois, which again CW hasn’t made a decision on. A version of John Diggle exists within that mythos. We’ll see what happens there.”

Details about Justice U were kept close to the chest while The CW was still developing the project with David Ramsey, with the only information known being that the show was set to focus on five meta-humans recruited by John Diggle to go undercover as freshmen in college. Ramsey continued to hold a steel trap in the interview, saying he isn’t sure what Warner Bros. has planned for the show in the future:

“There were a few [plans] but I’m still not at liberty to talk about that,” he continued. “And the reason why is because it belongs to Warner Brothers. Even though it was Warner Brothers produced for CW, it’s still a Warner Brothers show, and I’m not quite sure what they’re going to do with that. I know what CW decided to do, but I don’t know what Warner Brothers is gonna do.”

David Ramsey refusing to speak on Justice U may give fans some hope that the Arrowverse lives on, even if only spiritually, through the show if its picked up in some form for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe plans. However, Ramsey quickly clarified that, while he is excited for what lies in store for DC, he likely isn’t going to be involved:

“So I’m kind of excited to see what [James] Gunn and team will do with Green Lantern, and Superman, and Flash,” Ramsey explained. “I’m excited about all that. Will I be a part of it? In its current iteration, probably not. But who knows what happens down the line? And again, man, I’m a fan of the genre. So there’s some disappointment, but at the same time, I’m excited to see what happens next.”

With David Ramsey’s time as John Diggle finally ending, the era of the Arrowverse seems officially over following the end of The Flash. It’s a bittersweet moment even for those who weren’t a fan of the CW’s approach to the characters. While the ride may be over, the stories will last forever.
