‘Birds of Prey’ Cinematographer Says The DC Film Could Have A Different Title

Birds of Prey cinematographer Matthew Libatique revealed in an interview the upcoming DC film starring Margot Robbie will probably be retitled.

Earlier today, Libatique revealed in an interview with GMA News that he will be shooting Cathy Yen’s upcoming Birds of Prey film. Production is expected to start at the beginning of next year, however, Libatique also said the film will probably end up with a different title:

“I’m in preparation on a film currently called “Birds of Prey.” It’s probably going to have a different title.”

Details on the film’s plot are currently unknown, though the film will center around the titular team of female heroes and villains based on the DC Comics characters and concepts created by Jordan B. Gorfinkel and Chuck Dixon. Birds of Prey will also feature Batman villain Black Mask as the main antagonist of the film.

Directed by Cathy Yan with a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, the film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. Production on the project is expected to begin this January.

DC’s Birds of Prey film will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
