Did we actually almost get Brad Pitt as Cable?

Could Brad Pitt have been the perfect Cable? Deadpool 2 director David Letich reveals how the actor went from starring as Cable to making a cameo as Vanisher.

Late last year, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld revealed that Brad Pitt nearly played Cable in Deadpool 2. While the actor ultimately made a cameo in the film as Vanisher, it was unclear why Pitt wasn’t chosen for the leading role. According to the project’s director, David Leitch, it all simply came down to scheduling.

“Ryan [Reynolds] and I went to pitch Brad [Pitt],” Leitch told the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “We had concept art, and it’s sort of how the Vanisher cameo came to life. Because I think he entertained it for a bit and I know his schedules wouldn’t allow it to happen, so he came and did the cameo for fun.”

It’s certainly fun to hear that Brad Pitt decided to cameo as Vanisher in Deadpool 2 for his own amusement. While some fans may look back at what could have been, it’s clear that Josh Brolin was the perfect pick to play Cable in Deadpool 2. Perhaps, Pitt could come back as a Cable variant in a future film!

Hugh Jackman Almost Appeared In Deadpool 2

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are set to meet on the silver screen for Deadpool and Wolverine. However, their on-screen debut could have come much sooner. David Leitch claims he also approached Jackman about making a cameo in Deadpool 2. However, it was likely too early to bring him back as the Canadian mutant.

“Hugh [Jackman] and I had a great relationship, and I know Ryan [Reynolds] always wanted to bring that relationship back together at some point, but I think it was too early on in that conversation,” Leitch explained “It would have been amazing, I think, bringing them together.”

It seems David Leitch may be a soothsayer. While Hugh Jackman sadly didn’t appear in Deadpool 2, Deadpool and Wolverine truly does look amazing. In truth, the only things that seem to be missing in the film are Cable and Vanisher.

Deadpool 3 is currently expected to be released on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
