During an interview with ComicBook.com, director David Leitch offered an update on the status of Deadpool 3 now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox.

After Disney acquired 21st Century Fox’s assets, fans wondered what the future held for Deadpool considering the Merc with Mouth’s foul humor did not seem like a natural fit with the House of Mouse’s family-friendly image. While key Disney figures have assured fans they would love to continue making Deadpool films, there has yet to be an official update on the status of a second sequel since the Fox acquisition.

Now, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch has stated he has not been approached to helm a second sequel, but he would accept the job if offered:

“In everybody’s world, everybody wants to make it. So, if I was ever approached to make Deadpool 3, my answer would be, ‘Hell yes,’ but I think there’s a lot of things going on in the shake-up with Fox and Disney and where that whole Marvel world after Endgame is gonna be. When the dust settles, let’s hope that Deadpool lives. That’s kind of ironic, right?”

In fact, David Leitch noted he has several ideas for Deadpool 3 that he would share with Disney and Fox if called:

“I have a lot of ideas but I’m keeping them close to my vest so, if they ever come and I’m grateful enough for them to call, I can share all my crazy ideas.”
