Fans may be getting Deadpool 4 sooner than expected! The sequel got a surprisingly promising update in a new report about Ryan Reynolds’ ongoing legal feud.
While most discussion about Ryan Reynolds in the Marvel fandom revolves around when the star will get around to making Deadpool 4, there’s a whole other world of discourse on the other side of the fence. For those unaware, Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively has been in a very public legal battle with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni, a situation he has found himself pulled into more than once.
Though shockingly, it’s through the lens of this legal case that fans have finally gotten an update on Deadpool 4. Puck recently did a piece about the current legal drama surrounding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, and how it’s affecting Ryan Reynolds. In an excerpt, the outlet seemingly revealed that the highly-anticipated sequel is moving forward at Marvel Studios.
“[Ryan] Reynolds has other projects on the runway: He’s exec producer and a voice in Animal Friends from Warners and Legendary, which drops in late May, and he’s in production on Eloise for Netflix. Sources say Reynolds is also wisely focused on the next Deadpool movie, which will give him a chance to be seen as the public loves him most.”
Is Deadpool 4 Actually Happening?
This report is interesting, given that just last year, it was being reported that Deadpool 4 was a “low priority” movie for Marvel Studios. Though given the studio struggled at the box office in 2025, it’s not shocking that they’d be looking back to Ryan Reynolds to deliver yet another billion dollar bombshell into their portfolio.
However, it’s also possible that this report is confusing Deadpool 4 with X-Force, a project that Ryan Reynolds has long been rumored to be involved with for the MCU. That film recently got a rather promising update itself from a different insider, suggesting that it may be one of the earliest films to come out of Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga.
