‘Deadpool And Wolverine’: Concept Art Reveals Early Designs For Wesley Snipes As Blade

Blade is still looking fresh!

Deadpool and Wolverine Blade Cameo Wesley Snipes role

It’s still possible that Wesley Snipes could look cooler as Blade! Newly-released concept art for Deadpool and Wolverine shows off early designs for the film’s Daywalker.

Seeing Wesley Snipes return to the silver screen as Blade in Deadpool and Wolverine was enough to make any grown man weep. His design in the film felt like he was stepping out of his old trilogy directly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, concept art reveals that he wasn’t always going to look as put together.

The first piece of concept art revealed from Deadpool and Wolverine is by Rodney Fuentebella, who works as a visual development supervisor at Marvel Studios. As seen below, Fuentebella wanted a more world-weary and thrown-together outfit for Wesley Snipes’ return as Blade, which almost makes him seem ready for an apocalypse!

Wesley Snipes Gets An Upgrade As Blade

Of course, the first design of a character is rarely what makes it on the screen. While Rodney Fuentebella certainly did a formidable job in creating a new take on Blade, sometimes it’s best to stick to the classics. The final approved concept art for Wesley Snipes’ hero was done by John Staub and, aside from being a bit more red, is very similar to how he looks on the big screen in Deadpool and Wolverine.

It’s always interesting to peek behind the curtains and see the early designs of beloved characters. It would’ve been interesting to see Wesley Snipes wear any of these costumes as Blade. Then again, he could’ve only been wearing casual clothes in Deadpool and Wolverine, and fans still would have been cheering for his return!
