Concept art for Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine has resurfaced online, with the Merc With The Mouth’s creator Rob Liefeld voicing his horror.
It’s no secret that X-Men Origins: Wolverine did Deadpool dirty, even in spite of a stellar performance by Ryan Reynolds. Giving him laser eyes and Baraka-style blades in his arms were somehow the least offensive parts of the design, with it sewing the character’s iconic mouth completely shut. However, it seems fans got off easy, as Rob Liefeld recently reacted to some truly horrible resurfaced concept art:
It’s not clear which design would be more horrifying for Deadpool: the thin skin layer stretcher over muscle or the hairy tumor with no mouth. While many fans (rightfully) share the dislike Rob Liefeld and Ryan Reynolds have for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine design, it seems as though it may have been the best option.
