Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has shared his thoughts on the passing of Stan Lee, paying a heartwarming tribute to the Marvel Comics legend.

Lee passed away at the age of 95 on Monday after he was taken from his home to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Liefeld took to Instagram this afternoon to share the last photographs he took with Lee when he visited his home in August. In his post, he expressed his heartfelt thoughts on Lee’s impact on the entertainment industry after he recounted his last memory with the iconic creator:

“Kids of the 1970’s, kids my age grew up with The Hulk tv show, live action Spider Man TV movies, Dr. Strange film on CBS. It was an exciting time and it was a result of Stan’s decision to travel west and present the Marvel characters to Hollywood. He started the Marvel Age Of Comics as well as the Marvel Age Of Film that we enjoy today. I have many stories from my history and travels with Stan. We never had a better Ambassador. And we won’t ever see another like him. All I know is the Good Lord has pulled up a chair and Stan is currently bending all the ears in the heaven’s with his amazing tales and lore. They are hanging on his every word and sentence.”

Lee is survived by his daughter J.C. Lee. His late wife Joan passed away in July of 2017 in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 93.

The Marvel co-creator almost quit the comic industry in 1961 before he would write Fantastic Four with the help of Jack Kirby. Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers were in tow following Lee being asked to write titles similar to Fantastic Four after Marvel’s first family resonated with readers.
