It seems the roster for Deadpool & Wolverine just keeps growing! The newest trailer for the film reveals three more X-Men villains will be making their return to the big screen.
Fans were ecstatic when it was revealed that Aaron Stanford would be returning as Pyro in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, it seems he was only the appetizer of things to come. The second trailer for the project gave fans their first look at the villains assembled by Cassandra Nova, which include some interesting faces from the history of the X-Men.
While this shot features quite a few members of Cassandra Nova’s goon squad, three notable faces jump out. The first is Toad, who was first rumored to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine last year. There’s also Lady Deathstrike and Azazel, both being villains from prior X-Men films. It seems Cassandra Nova is building her own Brotherhood of Evil Mutants!
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Loki Connection
The newest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine doesn’t just feature ties to the X-Men franchise. The footage also reveals that Alioth will play some role in the film. Alioth, for those who never saw Loki, is a large monster made of smoke-like matter, created by He Who Remains (a.k.a. an alternate version of Kang the Conqueror) to destroy variants and timelines from across the multiverse.
It’s unclear how exactly the events of Loki will play into Deadpool & Wolverine. However, Cassandra Nova seems to share a similar goal to Kang in destroying timelines of the multiverse. Could it be the film is simply a new take on the same story featuring X-Men characters? Even if it is, the trailer makes it clear it’ll be one crazy ride!
