Disney has become the first studio in history to gross over $10 billion at the worldwide box-office.

Disney just can’t stop raking in financial restitution this year. This past weekend, the Disney Animation effort Frozen II raked in $125 million globally, with the film just $80 million away from making a billion dollars. However, this isn’t the only record that they’ve broken this year. Back in July when the live-action The Lion King hit cinemas, they went over $7.6 billion, which at the time was the highest figure grossed by a studio in a single year.

There’s plenty of films that got Disney to this fantastic level of global recognition. Namely, there’s Avengers: Endgame, which is not only the highest-grossing film of this year, but also of all-time. Then, there was another Marvel Cinematic Universe entry in the form of Captain Marvel. Fans might be wondering why Spider-Man: Far From Home hasn’t been mentioned despite grossing more than Captain Marvel, as it’s a Sony film rather than a Disney one.

2019 has been a strong year for Disney in terms of live-action remakes, as they’ve dropped Aladdin and The Lion King, with both crossing the billion dollar mark. Unfortunately, they had a dud in the form of Dumbo, which only got them $350 million. An animation hit Disney had under their Pixar branch was Toy Story 4, which also grossed over a billion dollars.

Out of the ten highest-grossing films of the year, Disney is responsible for six of them. The other four are Spider-Man: Far From HomeJoker, Hobbs & Shaw, and Ne Zha. It should be kept in mind that Disney garnered this much revenue without Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is guaranteed to gross over a billion dollars in just a few short weeks.
