Disney CEO Bob Chapek reveals if Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will be released on Disney Plus.
During an earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek revealed that Mulan would be released on the Disney Plus streaming service via a premium video on demand rental for $29.99. If you were wondering if this could mean that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow could receive the same treatment– it doesn’t appear likely. Chapek calls the Disney Plus release of Mulan a one time thing which kills the idea of Black Widow making it’s debut on the streaming service.
We’re very pleased to be able to bring Mulan to our consumer base that has been waiting for it for a long, long time, Mulan is a one-off. That said, we find it very interesting to be able to take a new offering to consumers at that $29.99 price and learn from it and see what happens not only in terms of the uptick of the number of subscribers we got on the platform, but also the number of transactions we get on that PVOD offering.
