Apptopia reports Disney Plus has been downloaded 22 million times to mobile devices since the service launched last month.
Last month, Disney Plus launched and offered fans a library of the companies titles spanning decades. According to Disney Plus, the service garnered over 10 million subscribers on its first day of release.
Now, independent app-tracking company Apptopia reports Disney Plus has been downloaded to mobile devices over 22 million times. However, details on how many of those users are actually signing up for full Disney Plus subscriptions and how many are testing out the free trial remain unclear.
It should be noted that Apptopia does not track signups through web browsers, smart TV’s, or other non-mobile devices, meaning the number of overall subscriptions to Disney Plus is likely higher than the number of mobile app downloads. Furthermore, Apptopia reports the mobile downloads to account for approximately $20 million of the revenue earned by Disney Plus.
Television projects being developed for Disney Plus include Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, Hawkeye, What If… ?, and Lucasfilms’ Star Wars series’ The Mandalorian, a show centered on Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, and an Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor. Feature films in development include remakes of Home Alone and Night at the Museum.
Disney Plus is now available in Canada, the Netherlands, and the United States.
