Disney Plus Orders New Animated Series ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’

The new series will follow a group of unique clones who become mercenaries.

Disney Plus has ordered a new animated series from Lucasfilm following a rag-tag group of clones in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

After the critical success of The Clone Wars‘ final season on Disney Plus, the streaming service has ordered a brand new animated series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch following the unique group of Clones that debuted in the first episode of season seven. Each member of the squad have a unique ability that make them a formidable unit. The team was last seen when one of Rex’s Clone Troopers Echo decided to join the Bad Batch at the end of the “Unfinished Business” episode.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch will follow the team’s escapades in after the events of The Clone Wars, following them as they become mercenaries in order to stay alive under the Empire’s rule. Disney Plus Senior Vice President Agnes Chu said she’s thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s latest vision to the screen with The Bad Batch. The new series will debut on Disney Plus sometime in 2021.

Here is the synopsis for “Shattered”:

After successfully capturing Maul on Mandalore, Ahsoka plans to deliver him to the Jedi Council on Coruscant. When Order 66 is declared in the midst of her journey, her world is turned upside down. Friends become foes, and enemies become allies in “Shattered” this Friday, May 1 st, followed by the heart-pounding series finale “Victory and Death” on Monday May 4th on Disney+.

Created by George Lucas, with Dave Filoni as executive producer/supervising director, The Clone Wars stars Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex and the clone troopers, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan, and Sam Witwer as Maul.
