Disney Pulls 2021 Release Date Competing With Sony’s Mystery Marvel Film

Marvel Sony Disney

Disney has removed the 2021 release date for an untitled film that would have competed with a Marvel project from Sony.

Previously, Disney has scheduled an untitled live-action film to be released on October 8, 2021, which would have competed with a mysterious Marvel movie Sony had set to hit theaters on the same day earlier this month.

Now, Disney’s release slate for October 2021 will include an untitled 20th Century Studios on the 1st, the live recorded version of Hamilton on the 15th, and a second untitled 20th Century Studios project on the 22nd. The decision to pull the untitled Disney film from October 8, 2021, release date avoids any overlap with Sony’s untitled Marvel film as both companies continue their partnership on the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies.

Details on the untitled Marvel film set for October 8 of next year are unknown at this time, but Sony said to be developing multiple movies focusing on characters such as Kraven the Hunter, Silk and Silver Sable, Spider-Woman, and many more.

In the meantime, Marvel Studios, which is owned by Disney, is currently collaborating on the third installment of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man film series. The joint production between Sony and the Disney owned studio is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 21st of 2021.

In the meantime, fan re-watch Tom Holland’s most recent appearance as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
