Disney has officially announced the writing team of The Marvels.
A new press release from Disney has revealed that The Marvels was written by Nia DaCosta, Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells. DaCosta also serves as the film’s director while the other three writers are Marvel Studios veterans who have previously worked on WandaVision, Loki and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
One of Marvel’s biggest projects to date
A recent synopsis for The Marvels teased that the film features a team-up between Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan. The movie serves as a direct sequel to three Marvel Studios projects — Captain Marvel, WandaVision and Ms. Marvel. It also features the return of Nick Fury, with Samuel L. Jackson reprising the role after his six-episode Disney Plus series Secret Invasion.
“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe,” reads a translated version of the synopsis.
“When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”
The Marvels also stars Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur. The movie is currently slated to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.
