While fans have been expecting to see the Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness since the first trailer was released, a new TV spot finally confirms their involvement in the film.

In Marvel’s comic continuity, the Illuminati were a secret organization founded by Tony Stark and originally included members such as Doctor Strange and Professor X. Their purpose was to share their unique intel and insights to discuss and prevent greater threats to the world. While it seems likely the MCU’s Illuminati will notably differ from their comic-book counterparts, the presence of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X amidst a shadowy council in the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness immediately prompted fan theories over the group’s presence in the film.

A new TV spot for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness finally sees the Illuminati referred to by name and apparently confirms Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo is involved with the group, though whether he is a fully fledged member is yet to be seen. The spot sees Mordo declaring “Stephen Strange, the Illuminati will see you now,” as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is pushed through a doorway by Ultron drones to face the secret organization. Check out the new TV spot below:

The spot also includes a look at America Chavez’s distinctive star-shaped portals, which allow travel between different universes, as well as new looks at Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and the horrifying zombified variant of Doctor Strange.
