Phil Lord and Chris Miller announced the third Spider-Verse film would be titled Beyond the Spider-Verse at CinemaCon.
Sony had their CinemaCon presentation Monday night in Las Vegas, where they revealed new details about the highly anticipated sequels to Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Last week, the studio notably pushed back Across the Spider-Verse to June 2023 and dropped “Part One” from its title.
The studio also dated the third animated Spider-Man film for March 2024. During CinemaCon, producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller came out on stage to reveal the third film will be titled Beyond the Spider-Verse. The producers also teased the following about the ambitious sequels:
“We had to try and break new ground, so it’s way bigger. The number of characters [is massive]. The first movie has 40. This one has 240 characters.”
Phil Lord and Chris Miller also shared that the first part starts on Earth-65, Spider-Gwen’s homeworld, before returning to Miles Morales’ Earth-160. The producing duo then revealed that the upcoming film would visit at least six different universes.
Here is the synopsis for the highly-anticipated sequel:
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Dave Callaham. The film features the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, and Issa Rae.
