Sony has moved back the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and dated Madame Web.
Sony is coming off the heels of Morbius, which hit theaters earlier this month. The studio is now looking forward to their other upcoming Spider-Man projects that will be both live-action and animated. Easily one of the most anticpated comic book movies coming soon is Across the Spider-Verse, a sequel to the Academy Award-winning film, Into the Spider-Verse. Sony also has live-action films centered on Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web in the pipeline.
On Wednesday, Sony shared an update on their upcoming Spidey slate, announcing that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will now hit theaters on June 2, 2023, after being previously dated for October 7, 2022.
Sony also shared the next Spider-Verse film will no longer have “Part One” in its title, but another Spider-Verse sequel is slated for March 29, 2024. Meanwhile, the upcoming Madame Web film starring Dakota Johnson will arrive on July 7, 2023. Sony also dropped this description for the film:
“Madame Web is a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself. This is the story of how she came to be.”
Here is the synopsis for the highly-anticipated Spider-Verse sequel:
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Dave Callaham, the film features the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac and Issa Rae.
