After months of begging from fans, DC Studios has finally announced the release date for the final episodes of Doom Patrol on Max. The release date also comes along with a new teaser and the show’s final season poster.
Doom Patrol was yet another DC Studios casualty of the Warner Bros. Discovery Merger. Though unlike Batgirl (which also starred Brendan Fraser), it seems as though fans will be seeing the release of season 4. A new poster has been released along with a teaser for the final batch of episodes which shows the titular team preparing for the end as they face one final mission against General Immortus:
It may shock some fans to hear that Doom Patrol season 4 is due out so soon, with the season’s premiere being just three weeks away. However, most networks have almost no Fall schedule with the ongoing WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes, meaning completed shows are at a premium. Hopefully the relatively uncompetitive release date and a push from DC Studios will give the show the final stretch it truly deserves.
The future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
